The PhD project studies the fate of CO2 from photosynthesis to soil respired CO2 using isotope laser spectroscopy. The project contributes to two large ecosystem manipulation experiments and aims at understanding the belowground carbon allocation dynamics in a montane (Austria) and a subarctic (Iceland) grassland in response to warming. At the Austrian site, interactive effects of warming with elevated CO2 and summer drought will be studied, while at the site in Iceland the focus will be on interactions of warming with nitrogen availability.The planned work will be embedded in a series of in situ isotopic pulse labelling experiments and will be closely supervised by an experienced Post-Doc.
The position is fully financed for a period of three years, starting in June 2017.
