Inviting the entire Arctic chamber flux community to participate on a survey of chamber flux metadata (Link to the survey)

on behalf of Marguerite Mauritz, Anna Virkkala, and Ted Schuur

Our project “Reconciling historical and contemporary trends in terrestrial carbon exchange of the northern permafrost-zone” aims to collect and aggregate Arctic and boreal chamber and tower CO2 flux data.

We would like to ask the Arctic chamber community to fill out a metadata survey to get an overview of the spatial and temporal coverage of net ecosystem exchange (NEE) and data availability for the permafrost zone. We would appreciate it if you could take 5-10 minutes to answer our survey by 10th of August. The survey will remain open after that, but we are trying to gather as much information as possible by mid-August.

Our working group members have already conducted a metadata survey for Arctic CO2 flux towers as part of an INTAROS-project funded by the EU.The eddy flux survey can be found here.
The database we assemble for this project will be used to understand whether the Arctic is turning into a CO2 source due to climate warming and permafrost thaw, and provide new insights into the drivers of C cycling at the pan-Arctic scale.

If you are interested in contributing data to this activity you can indicate this in the survey and we will contact you with instructions for data submission.

Let us know if you have any comments or questions. Thank you for your responses!
